Othello's handkerchief and Islamic art

Here are some images of Islamic textiles that I mentioned in class. Note the elaborate work, with images of animals, flowers, scripture and geometric patterns. The last two images might give you a good idea of what Othello's handkerchief might have looked like.

Most of those handkerchiefs are flowers. That is very interesting. Evan is a way better actor than Taylor F. His acting skills were clearly demonstrated on wednesday.

So, you found these pictures, yet you still haven't gotten those Ghandi pictures for Dev.

I don't like how this thing does not have a delete button for my comment, i want to delete the other comment i left. It was an accident. =)

Wow, the designs are really detailed. I love the first picture.

the last design is the coolest. the one before it kind of looks like a hand drawing.

I like the last one the best. It really helps to see these. No wonder Othello didn't want to lose it! Must take a LONG time to make them.
These definitely don't look like the one we used in class. Nice try!

haha Lisa. =]

Cool designs. I wonder how long it would take to make one. It must take a long time.

I liked the second design the best.

Evan R. may be a better Othello than Taylor F., but there is no doubt that Hannah O. was the best drunken Cassio... ever.

the handkerchiefs are pretty cool, though I personally can't imagine taking that much time to put so much detail into something to wipe my nose with.

but good for them.

whoa I'd be mad at Desdemona for losing the handkerchief too..
*tsk* *tsk* *tsk*

these are spiffy, painstaking atten. to detail and everything..

this looks like Australian art that I've seen. None too fond of it, personally, but it's very good. I like the design on the second item down.

....who on earth posted something that got removed?

The first two and last one look intricate. The others color's look dull and not bright. They're all pretty cool, but I like the intricate ones the best. I can definitely see why Othello wanted to protect his handkerchief.

Pretty cool designs, and I agree that the last one is coolest. I just don't think that it would be too comfortable to wipe your nose with one of the embroidered handkerchiefs. Oh well, Desdemona won't have to worry about it anymore. ;)

Also, Evan may think he's better than me at reading, but he obviously didn't notice my Oscar. Maybe he should stop ____ing Josh for long enough to practice reading.

wow those designs are really pretty. I like the first and last one.

umm do i sense some taylor/evan rivalry??
nahh no way.

They're really nice for something they wiped their noses on.

I liked the last one the best. It has the coolest pattern.

One of this kind is Mr. Wilson. In sleep I heard him say, "Sweet Omar, Let us be wary, let us hide our loves."

Anonymous said...

These are cool Wilson, thanks for the extra info. I like the first picture with the elephants the best.

Very cool designs

And then sir, would Mr. Wilson gripe and wring Omar's hand, Cry "O sweet creature!" then kiss Omar hard...

Anonymous said...

The second to last one is something i thought it would look like, but the last one seems too new to me for it to be something similar.

Anonymous said...

...as if Mr. Wilson plucked up kisses by the roots That grew upon Omar's lips; then laid his leg O'er Omar's thigh, and sighed, and kissed, and then Cried, "Cursed fate that gave thee to _{name goes here}_!"

ok obviosly omar is too popular here. maybe we should just comment on the art work?
k cool
i really enjoyed looking at the rug it was nice.

I like the 2nd one the best

Anyways, shouldn't all of these hankercheif be red? because they were dyed in the liquid from maiden's hearts, and that's blood.

Anonymous said...

I like the designs. The first one is my favorite.

Anonymous said...

The second one is by far my favorite.

Anonymous said...

I love the last one! It has simple symetry.

Anonymous said...

Wow those are so intricate! I don't think I'd have the mental patience to make one of those...

but still...very cool! =D

Anonymous said...

do i still get participation points?

Anonymous said...

oh yeah nice carpets i like the last one the most

Anonymous said...

No wonder these are so expensive. It must have taken ages for them to be made. I wouldn't have the patience for it. D:

But beautiful, all the same.
:D

By the way, Evan and Taylor need to stop acting like sixth graders. I love you both. :D
