Out of curiosity, what books are other people reading for this project? Personally I am reading Angels and Demons, by Dan Brown, the same dude who wrote The Da Vinci Code, which is going to be a movie soon. Unless I am mistaken, Angels and Demons also stars the same character that is in The Da Vinci Code, Langdon or something.

Jason,

I don't know, but I sure hope more people post their titles here. I'm reading The Kite Runner right now.

I am going to read either Chronicle of a Death Foretold or The Vanishing. I went to the library and got them both yesterday. However, I still have not started one.

Richard, what is Chronicle of a Death about? Who is it by? What made you want to read it?

Jason,

You can use the links I posted to Amazon, Powells, and Barnes and Noble to find out about those titles, or you can try here for Chronicle. You probably won't find anything on The Vanishing as it is out of print and hard to find. I do know that the Tigard Public Library has a copy of it.

Chronicles of a Death Foretold. I don't know all that much but it is basicly about a murder that everyone knew about except the guy that got murdered. That, of course, is the very bare basics of it all.

I was more interested in why Richard wanted to read the books, and what made him pick them. It is always fun to find out the different reasons people choose books. I chose Angels and Demons becuase I started it the very beginning of 8th grade, but only got a couple chapters in becuase I didn't think it was all that appropriate for that age. It was very interesting, though, and I also thoroughly, enjoyed Dan Browns other books, Deception Point and Digital Fortress.

Well, I picked it up simply because it sounded like an interesting murder story.

Quote by Hargis: "Well, I picked it up simply because it sounded like an interesting murder story." I should have expected you to say something like that. I still like my reason better than yours though.

I'm reading One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest. I chose this book because I actually enjoy reading books that deal with mental insanity. I think this subject is appealing to me because when you read their views on their environment, they are so bizarre. I enjoyed Misery(Stephen King) for this reason. As I read on, I saw how at first a character hid her thoughts and emotions from the world, but when she was able to hold her favorite author as a prisoner, her true mental state was gradually revealed. In addition, Mr. Wilson said that in the novel, the narrator is not the main character, but a supposed deaf man who watches the events in a mental hospital. I thought this was a creative spin for the narration of a story and wanted to check it out!

I have officially started Angels and Demons. So far, so good. Dan Brown has such interesting topics. Antimatter and the Illuminati cult in the same story. Very interesting.

Megan,

You will really like Cuckoo's Nest! Besides the interesting POV, it also has some really funny scenes. Let me know when you read the chapter about the Monopoly game.

Antimatter?! That sounds interesting. A few years ago (8th grade) I wrote a story that had to do with three main things: Blackholes, Whiteholes, and Wormholes. Yes, I did say whiteholes. The story had to do with a man in his space craft (an oberservation craft). His mission was to collect as much information as he could about these three unusually subjects. The story continues about his adventure of his studies and how he gets into trouble (I also did a poem about Time that year ...).

Whiteholes are very, very interesting. They related to my 8th grade science fair project.

Mr. Wilson,

Not quite there yet, but It's good to know there will be humor in this book. I read The Green Mile last year, and although it was about the final weeks of criminals' lives before they were electrocuted, humor was added throughout the novel using a spool-rolling mouse!

P.S. I think black holes are so interesting! I did a project in 8th grade about them as well. I used to want to become an astronomer!

Quote by Megan: "it was about the final weeks of criminals' lives before they were electrocuted, humor was added throughout the novel.". What a combination. It reminds me of Angels and Demons' combo of antimatter, the church, and a satanic cult. Fun stuff.
